Motivation

The objective of this project was to develop a proven methodology for evaluation of the performance of Tesla turbines applied as the power source of a breathing-powered prosthetic.

Methodology

A thorough literature review is being conducted on previously developed mathematical models. Most of the current solutions were limited by low mathematical accuracy, inaccurate physical modelling, lack of experimental validation, or oversimplified assumptions.

Currently, we are also conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, both on the rotor domain and of the turbine as a whole.

This project is still under development. More details will be added once it is finished.
